Vintage Chinese Elm Low Bench | Wabi-Sabi Rustic Wooden Stool

A One-of-a-Kind Vintage Chinese Elm Stool

This one-of-a-kind vintage wooden stool was sourced from rural China and is distinguished by its exceptionally rich, naturally aged patina.
The seat has developed a beautiful warm amber-brown tone, with layers of softened edges, visible grain, scratches, wear marks and subtle variations in color created through years of everyday use.

Traditional joinery remains clearly visible across the seat and legs, together with old repairs and irregular hand-worked details.
Rather than being refinished to look new, these traces of use have been preserved as part of the piece's character, Its simple rectangular form, substantial wooden seat and primitive construction give it an understated sculptural quality that works especially well in Wabi-Sabi, Japandi, Rustic, Farmhouse and Organic Modern interiors.

Origin & Character

Originally made as a practical piece of everyday furniture in rural China, this stool reflects the straightforward construction and traditional woodworking found in old Chinese countryside furniture. Every worn edge, old joint, repair mark and variation in the wood surface contributes to its individual history and character.
